Schedule:

  • Day: Tuesdays
  • Time: 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
  • Season: September - December
  • Age Range: 8-14yrs. Parents must stay on site if their child is under 12.

Overview: This session is for youths aged 8-14 years who want to develop their cyclocross bike handling skills. We'll cover core skills used in cyclocross such as climbing, descending, cornering, shouldering the bike, mounting, dismounting, and more. Different sessions will cover different techniques, so we recommend attending multiple sessions to learn the full range of skills needed. This session is suitable for cyclocross beginners as well as young riders with some CX racing experience.

Session Details:

  • Content: Each week, sessions are tailored to include features expected in the upcoming weekend's London Cyclocross League race.
  • Bike Types: Suitable bikes include gravel, cyclocross.
  • Bike Hire: Cyclocross bikes are available for hire at £5 extra. These must be booked in advance via the entry form.

Important Notes:

  • Age Group: This session is open to youths aged 8-14 years. If you are aged 12-16 years and are racing regularly, consider the Thursday evening Cyclocross Development Centres.
  • Experience: No accreditation, taster, or previous experience is necessary.
  • Lights: Ensure you have a quality front light for Autumn and Winter sessions.

What to Bring:

  • Your bike (cyclocross, gravel)
  • Helmet (mandatory)
  • Gloves (mandatory)
  • Water and a snack
  • Cycling-specific clothing, gloves, plenty of layers, and waterproofs (sessions will run in bad weather)
  • Powerful front lights

Additional Information:

  • Session Duration: 1 hour
  • Helmets: Necessary
  • Clothing: We recommend cycling-specific clothing. Gloves are recommended. Please get in touch if you are unsure about what to wear.
  • Skill Level: You must be able to confidently ride a bike, but this session is open to young riders of any fitness level. The focus is on technique rather than pre-existing fitness.
  • Bike Cleaning: The last part of the session will involve riders cleaning their own bikes.

Location:

  • Trails: Sessions take place on the off-road trails at the back of the main track.
  • Meeting Point: Meet in front of the pavilion for the session. Latecomers will need to find the group on the trails.

We are situated at 104 Burbage Rd, London SE24 9HE. We’re a short walk (and even shorter cycle) from North Dulwich, Herne Hill or Tulse Hill overground stations and local bus routes can be found by clicking here. As you walk north-west along Burbage Rd (from the cross with Turney Rd) keep an eye out for some white curved walls, lovely wood panel gates and a small sign on your right-hand side.

We’ve a limited amount of free parking available on site but we encourage you to travel here by cycle or public transport where you can.

For more information about the recently updated traffic calming measures on Burbage Road click here or search ‘Dulwich Streetspace’. You can't access Burbage Road from the south (via the junction with Turney Road) on a weekday between 08:00-9:00 and 15:00-16:30. At those times you'll need to go via Half Moon Lane.
