Overview:
With the start of the Crit Racing season almost upon us, these sessions are for those young riders who already race or are planning to undertake some crit racing this year, for example at Crystal Palace or HHV Crit League.
We'll be practicing cornering, group riding and bike handling amongst other skills, and introducing crit-specific racecraft.
Important: This is a session for road bikes (geared bikes) - not track bikes.
Session Details:
Age Group: This session is open to people 8-16 years old. Parents must stay on site if their child is under 12.
Session Duration: 1 hour
Bike hire: We don't have bikes to borrow for this session.
Experience level: No experience required.
Important to know:
Lycra is not required, although we recommend that you don't wear anything too baggy - layers are recommended, as well as a warm jacket for after. Shoulders must be covered.
Remember to bring water and a snack.
Check the weather! We run sessions throughout the winter, so please dress warmly and have waterproofs on hand. In the rare instance that we need to cancel due to snow/ice/high wind, we will endeavour to inform participants via email / social media at least 2hrs before the session, though this is not always possible.
Gloves: Required
Helmets: Required
Location: Inner velodrome track.
Meeting Point: Please wait on the grandstand seating outside the track fence: your coach will invite you to cross the track when they are ready.
We are situated at 104 Burbage Rd, London SE24 9HE. We’re a short walk (and even shorter cycle) from North Dulwich, Herne Hill or Tulse Hill overground stations and local bus routes can be found by clicking here. As you walk north-west along Burbage Rd (from the cross with Turney Rd) keep an eye out for some white curved walls, lovely wood panel gates and a small sign on your right-hand side.
We’ve a limited amount of free parking available on site but we encourage you to travel here by cycle or public transport where you can.
For more information about the recently updated traffic calming measures on Burbage Road click here or search ‘Dulwich Streetspace’. You can't access Burbage Road from the south (via the junction with Turney Road) on a weekday between 08:00-9:00 and 15:00-16:30. At those times you'll need to go via Half Moon Lane.
