Overview: A fun and friendly 1hr session for riders from 3 - 8 years old who can cycle independently to improve their skills and technique through a variety of fun exercises, games and races.
Session Details:
Age Group: This session is open to people aged 3-8 years.
Session Duration: 1 hour
Bike and helmet hire: Bikes and helmets are included in the session cost if you need them, although you’re welcome to bring your own. If you need to borrow a bike from us, please arrive ahead of your session start time to allow us to help you get a bike and start the session on time.
Experience level: Riders must be able to ride independently - this means being able to start and stop on their own using brakes, and able to pedal in the direction that they want to go.
What to Bring:
Water and a snack
Comfortable clothing, gloves, plenty of layers, and waterproofs (sessions will run in bad weather). We recommend not wearing skirts or dresses as these can impede movement on the bike. Closed toed shoes must be worn: no sandals, sliders or flip flops please!
Important to know:
Latecomer policy: If you arrive more than 10 minutes after your session start time, your child will not be allowed to join the session (we will do our best to move your booking to another session where possible). This is to help keep the children, parents and riders safe and to ensure everyone gets the most out of their sessions.
Only those signed-up and participating in the session will be allowed across the main track and into the centre. Parents/carers and non-riding siblings are encouraged to sit and watch from the banked seating of the velodrome (and enjoy tasty drinks and snacks from Jan's Cafe when open) but please do not leave the overall site.
Track Crossings: Once the child has crossed the track with the coach to start the session, recrossing to the outside of the track will only be permitted at the end of the session and accompanied by the coach. There is one toilet in track centre.
Before the session starts, please ensure that your young person has used the toilet, has a snack in their pocket and a water bottle with them. The coach will be able to help carry things into track centre.
If you think your child is not yet ready for this level of independence then we would encourage you to continue in our Learn to Cycle sessions.
Location:
Inner Track: Sessions take place on the junior track loop inside the main track
Meeting Point: Meet at the designated inner track meeting point: at the thick blue line next to the blue seating.
